Tim P. Miller has operated Millberg farm a diversified Certified Organic farm in Kyle for 29 years. Operation of the farm is done without ever using any aquifer water, utilizing dryland farming methodologies for production of herbs, vegetables, pecans and 140 fruit trees. Emphasis is giving opportunity to new young farmers, gardeners, volunteers and interns the chance to work and observe in an operating master planned permaculture farm. Breaking rules of the typical farmer by having no drip irrigation, truck or tractor, but relying on hand tools and a recent addition of a BSC tiller. Crop production is done with heirlooms with incorporating techniques that enable reseeding of annuals(arugula, mustard, cilantro) into the vast array of multiplying leeks, garlic and green onions. Small amounts of saved rainwater in unique roof collection systems designed for backyard gardeners are advocated and used for various needs. Expansion of the farm with more acreage has occurred and soon fish aquaculture from a 1916 built 17,000 gallon cistern located on our historic farm site.
